ABOUT THE BAND
Any band that manages to survive three decades, seeing its core members go from young adults to veteran musicians is bound to have its swings and cycles.
The Mavericks, the eclectic rock and country group known for crisscrossing musical boundaries with abandon, has gone through three distinct phases since it was founded in Miami in 1989.
An initial period of heady success marked by big hits and critical acclaim in the '90s. Best known for the 1998 UK hit, 'Dance The Night Away', which spent 18 weeks in the charts. A long hiatus starting 2003 when the musicians each went their own way. And finally, a triumphant reunion in 2012 which held long enough for them to recently celebrate the band's 30th anniversary.
Now, THE MAVERICKS TRIBUTE, brings the original Miami sounds of this million-selling super-group to UK venues, clubs, private parties and special events. Every song will become your favourite song and your feet will lead you to the dance floor.
Kevin
Kevin joined his first group at the age of 14, playing bass guitar for a rock band, which went on to support named artists, including UFO and Stealers Wheel. From bass guitar and backing vocalist of various rock, pop and country bands, to being front man of a 22 piece, 'Frank Sinatra' big band, Kevin enjoyed playing and singing across different genres of music. The past few years has seen him, organising live online music shows, singing for Macmillan Cancer under the name 'Macmillan Busker' and founding The Mavericks Tribute, an authentic tribute to one of the best live bands of our time.
Ian
Ian was born at a very early age. He played guitar extensively across the UK as a musician working in radio and television and also live work. Ian has since founded and worked for youth music projects in Sussex promoting and teaching young bands. He is currently a music teacher at a local special-needs school.
